WE CAN MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO THE FORMAT ONCE WE PUT THEM IN WORD DOCUMENT.

NOTE: The only problem I seem to have is that I cannot copy text from a word doc and paste it here but I can copy from here and paste
into a word doc. This might be the flaw of it unless anyone else figures out, let me know. Thanks. Chanya

Our school firmly believes in teaching the whole child by developing their needs in the areas of academic attainment such as mastering skills within an interdisciplinary context and acquiring critical thinking skills for interpretation and application. Our goal is for students to develop character attainment through increased social, personal and academic responsibilities.
- Authentic and meaningful learning is encouraged. Through clearly articulated goals and open communication, our teachers will use a variety of instructional strategies and teaching techniques to help students relate learning to the real world. It is also our belief that continuous planning, evaluation, and change are necessary to achieve educational excellence.

-FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE:
The flex scheduling concept pairs a student’s Math course with their Communications course to create a triple period for the two classes. This three class period combination is divided the by school day. For example, on Day A, a student may have two periods of Math and one period of Communications. The next day, Day B, that same student would have two periods of Communications and one period of math. This concept allows WMS to offer 1 ½ times the amount of Math and Communications as a traditional middle school schedule. This practice does not lead to students receiving more homework. On the contrary, it allows the time to do some work in class, allows time for questions and answers, and allows the Communications teachers to separate reading and writing concepts.

ISSUES AND TRENDS
- TECHNOLOGY:

Eagle Middle School is aware that technology is ubiquitous and it touches every part of our lives where ever we are in this modern era. Therefore, we believe in providing students and teachers the opportunity to explore technology through teaching and learning. Our goal is for students to be able to acquire the skills they need to survive in a complex, high technology-based world but at the same time, know how to use technology and the cyber world with safety concerns.
Components of learning - active engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback, and connection to real-world are what takes place in our technology-integrated curriculum. Students equipped with technology tools are intellectually challenged in their projects where they acquire, analyze, refine and synthesize information they found online. The myriad resources of the online world combined with tech tools allow students to stay engaged on task and aid understanding through images, sounds, and text.
- SOCIAL PRESSURE:

The transitioning years can be very exciting and rewarding for many, yet at the same time very difficult for some. At this time, many students face many social challenges in order to adjust to the new environment and people. Who and what students allow to influence them can introduce them to variety of dangers.
Wise Choices Assembly Program (WCAP) held four times every quarter will encourage students to become conscious of influences and seek positive role models. Drugs, alcohol, smoking, dating, and other issues of concern with social pressure will be discussed.
